Detailed description
Beaujolais Woodland Honey is an invitation to take a walk beneath the canopy. Unlike classic floral honeys, it comes from a skilful blend of nectars and honeydew collected from woodland species throughout our region. This distinctive origin gives it its dark, mysterious amber colour, as well as its particularly dense liquid texture.
On the palate, it is an explosion of flavours: woody aromas, notes of liquorice and dark caramel, with remarkable persistence. Less sweet on the palate than floral honeys, it offers unique complexity. It is the ideal partner for food lovers: excellent with mature cheeses (such as aged Comté or Fourme), it also works wonderfully in meat marinades or simply spread on a slice of toasted country bread.
The beekeeper in Odenas ensures that this raw honey undergoes no heat treatment, preserving the wild intensity and mineral richness characteristic of the treasures of the Beaujolais forests.
Aromatic intensity scale:
- Acacia Honey: 1/4 (Crystal-clear sweetness and subtlety)
- Spring Honey: 2/4 (Creaminess and fresh floral notes)
- Wildflower Honey: 3/4 (Rich polyfloral character and persistence)
- Beaujolais Woodland Honey: 4/4 (Woody intensity and full-bodied notes)
